Administrative and Office Procedures
for Smaller Cemeteries

This form gives you valuable protection when placing memorial stones in your cemetery. The three part application provides protection in key areas. The first is signed by the lot owner or heir, and applies for the erection of the memorial or marker. The second part is completed by the monument dealer, and attests to the quality of the memorial, and the rules and regulations of the cemetery in which the memorial is erected. The third part is a detailed description of where the memorial is to be placed, what kind of material it is to be made of, the type of lettering to be used, the exact wording, and the size. Developing a Catholic Cemetery

Every Catholic cemetery, regardless of size, must have a current set of rules and regulations which are reasonable, made in good faith, and apply uniformly to all lots. They govern the activities in the Catholic cemetery for the mutual protection and benefit of both the lot holders and the cemetery. Cremation Tradition

This card (2-1/2 x 3 inches) has a built-in carbon copy. When both copies are used, one is filed alphabetically and the second is filed chronologically. By using this system (along with the lot card) you can find where Joe Doe is interred when the lot is not registered in his name; ascertain exactly at any given time how many interments have been made in your cemetery, and easily report to the chancery office exactly how many interments you had during a given year.

The lot card is designed to serve as your master file (5" x 8"). In the smallest of operations it is often the only file. It is generally filed by section (if your cemetery has more than one section), then by block (or rows) and then by lot. It is strongly recommended that a card be made FOR EVERY LOT in your cemetery including the lots not sold. By so doing you have a complete record of every lot including the number of graves in each lot. Twenty years from now anyone can quickly obtain an inventory of unsold lots as well as unused graves in lots that have been sold.
